Today is the eighth anniversary of the death of eminent film and television actress Parveen Sultana Diti.

Born on March 31, 1965 at Sonargaon in Narayanganj, Diti began her career as a singer. She sang for programmes aired on Bangladesh Television, later acted in the TV drama titled Laili Majnu.

She made her silver screen debut after participating in the talent hunt contest titled Natun Mukher Sandhane.

Directed by Ajmal Huda, her first released film was Ami-e Ostad. She acted in more than 200 films during her career.

Diti-acted films include Parbat, Swami Stree, Dui Jiban, Bhai Bandhu, Kathin Pratishodh, Sneher Pratidan, Uchhila, Charam Aghat, Mukti, Shesh Upahar, Hira Moti and Megher Koley Rod.

She received the National Film Award in 1986 for her acting in the film Swami Stree.

Parveen Sultana died on March 20, 2016.
